Original Post: 3/10/11

Sunday, March 20 2011, the day I will run LA Marathon for the 4th time (and embark on my 8th 26.2 journey overall), will also be very special because it will mark the 5th year since I did my FIRST training run with the intention of running a marathon.  (Check out that life-changing post HERE).

Yep, on March 20, 2006, I went to the track and ran my first 3.25 miles with the dreams of marathon glory (or even half-marathon glory).

I think it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.  I was a sprint/track runner in middle and high school and never fathomed that I would take the challenge of doing what I considered an impossible feat at the time.  (Okay, so sometimes I still think it's impossible, oh, when I'm mile 22 deep in a marathon.)  My races back then were closer to .2 than adding another 26 miles to that.  But the challenge has taught me discipline, delayed gratification, understanding my abilities, and given me confidence.  It's no surprise that I'm still at it, no matter how many times I have asked myself, "Why?!"

Anyway........... to celebrate this milestone, I'm doing a giveaway!!

In THIS post back in December, I reviewed the Sony W Series MP3 player.  I've done a lot of training runs since then, and my review still stands.

In short, I think this so-called "walkman" has changed my running!  I recommend you read my full review for more details, but in short, this is one of those products I would recommend to anyone.

I barely even touch my iPod anymore, nor do I have to keep replacing the in-ear buds that always keep breaking on me.  The battery holds up beautifully, and I have yet to have sweat interfere with the functioning of this player.  The controls are easy once you get the hang out it.

Instead of continually bragging, I get the opportunity to share the wealth (as you've probably seen on some other blogs lately).  I was contacted about the possibility of giving a couple of these away. :D  Below is a photo of the TWO units, each worth approximately $60.

This giveaway will close on March 20 (once I get settled from my race!).  I will use a random number generator to select the two winners and announce them shortly thereafter.  I think the odds are decently in your favor, so go ahead and give it a shot!

I don't think I remember my face being that dark!
Not a makeup issue, either!

A Running Post!

Two posts in one week?  This must means that I am publishing these on an automatic schedule, since I'm finding it verrrry difficult to keep up lately.  Still, this post is going to be a fun one for me to write because it has to do with running!!

I've mentioned this here before, but sometime after the new year, I saw that Mark Zuckerberg started a "year of running" in which he'd try to run at least 365 miles this year.  It took me more than halfway through the month to get on board with this, so I was running a lot of catch up and as of last week, I'm at 179 miles for the year, which I believe leaves me in good shape because it's still early May.

Most of my miles were on the treadmill, but I'm doing more outside now, carving out paths around my hilly neighborhood.  The weather has mostly been amenable to running outdoors (for now!), though sometimes it calls for this little number from CozyPhones that "The Ukrainian" is modeling nicely since …

Starting off with a bad selfie!

I haven't had a chance to recap 2014 on here, but besides a couple of races and a trip earlier in the year (which I would link but am using my phone at the moment), 2014 was a year of baking a baby and dealing with the aftermath. I also got a cute new niece and nephew out of it, as well. Family gatherings are very hectic now!

Looking forward, I am hoping that this year will involve a return to normalcy, at least as much as can occur with a new baby. I look forward to incorporating Baby Tuesday into things that "The Ukrainian" and I used to enjoy as a party of two. I also look forward to seeing Tuesday grow and learn about the world. I am hoping to bake and cook and run again, too. The last thing I made was a pandan cake on Christmas Eve, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without help from my younger sister and a napping baby.

Blogging more often would be nice. This post in itself required multiple sittings.  I have many posts I'…

Detox (Macaroons)

Ahhh, the joys of processed foods.

My latest processing adventure involves detox.  For those people who listen to rap, Dr. Dre has been promising an album called Detox for about 10 years now.... I'm still waiting............................

Check out these Detox Macaroon recipe from Healthy Hoggin.  I've been making many versions of macaroons, but this is my favorite in terms of flavor.

The unique thing about this (vegan) recipe is that it is 99% coconut.

The first step is to pulverize some shredded coconut into a "coconut butter."  I loved seeing it transform!  It was quite tasty in this form!

By the way, that is almond extract that you see above.  It's a lot stronger than vanilla extract and clear in color.

Coconut butter + more shredded coconut = macaroons!

They are delicate and coconut-y without that throat-itching sensation of condensed milk that other macaroons offer.

If you're willing to put in some effort, definitely give these flour-less ma…
