Be My Guest?

One of the tips that I have seen a lot regarding how to promote your blog or diversify your readership is to guest post.  I have done this probably less than I should, but off the top of my head, here are a couple of my contributions to other blogs:

My blog isn't huge, but I feel as though I should offer the opportunity to others.  These next couple of months are a good time for me to solicit guest posts for this blog, as I've got a couple of new things that will be competing with my time and will to blog.  They include: the holidays, the "busy season" at my job, my guitar, settling my job/living situation, my marathon, a new niece, professional association meetings, becoming a undergraduate mentor, and working on publishing parts of my dissertation.  Hopefully, I will get some vacation time in as well, though I just learned that my two-week winter break that I had been looking forward to allllll year is now down to one.

So, if you have an idea you'd like to share with me, please contact me via e-mail (see the About page for those details).  I'm looking for topics related to this blog, so food/product reviews, and basically anything about running should do just fine.

NOTE: I won't be using these as a replacement for my own blogging but rather to add some variety to the blog and fill on those days when *all the above* prevent me from posting regularly.

Sharkies Prize Pack (giveaway)

It's giveaway time! On a long run recently, I took a couple packs of Sharkies Organic Sports Chews  with me to keep me going on a hot day.  I got through those 15 miles  eating these, versus normal gels.  I've been opting to eat chews over gels in my running nowadays because I just find them more palatable and easier on my stomach for some reason.  Plus, they do pack a few more calories, which is a good thing in this case. I normally associate cute little chews with candy, but these actually contain natural electrolytes.  Plus, they were light to carry and very tasty, too!  Each pack is about 140 calories.  The only downside I found to the sport chews is that they stuck to my teeth a tiny bit more than my normal choices, and the packaging gave me a fight at times.  This could easily be solved by conslidating them into a baggie pre-run, or eating them BEFORE running would be much easier than during.
